Water Bloodline

Sapphire Dragons

Adaptable Force

Water dragons embody the paradox of their element: endlessly adaptable, flowing around obstacles with ease—until something threatens what they protect. Then they become an unstoppable tsunami, crushing everything in their path with the same inevitability as the tide.

They are the second-largest of the elemental bloodlines, built with the bulk and power to back up their protective instincts. A Water dragon's jaws are massive enough to kill another dragon with a single snap, and they will not hesitate to use that power when their rider is in danger.

Physical Characteristics

Water dragons display scales in shades of blue—from pale ice blue to deep cobalt, sometimes with lighter or darker highlights. Their build is broad and heavy, particularly through the chest and shoulders, designed for power rather than speed. They are second only to Terros dragons in sheer mass, and their presence commands respect.

Despite their size, Water dragons move with surprising fluidity. They can turn on a dime, adjust their flight path mid-air, and adapt to changing circumstances faster than their bulk would suggest possible. This combination of power and flexibility makes them formidable opponents who can shift tactics as easily as water shifts shape.

Temperament

Water dragons are remarkably adaptable and even-tempered—most of the time. They go with the flow, adjusting to new situations, new strategies, new environments without complaint. Change tactics mid-battle? No problem. Relocate to unfamiliar territory? They'll adapt. Face an unexpected threat? They'll shift approach seamlessly.

But cross a Water dragon or threaten their rider, and that calm adaptability becomes a force of nature. They don't just get angry—they become a tsunami of protective fury, unstoppable and merciless. Their loyalty runs as deep as the ocean, and they will drown anyone foolish enough to threaten what they've claimed as theirs.

Water dragons are decisive when action is required. They assess, they commit, and they follow through with the inevitability of a river carving through stone.

Combat Style

In battle, Water dragons are devastating through versatility and overwhelming power:

  • Manipulate both liquid water and ice with equal skill

  • Generate localized storms, using rain and wind to disorient enemies

  • Create tsunamis and massive waves to sweep away ground forces

  • Control ocean currents to trap or redirect aerial opponents

  • Drown enemies by pulling water into their lungs or creating inescapable whirlpools

  • Fire pressurized water blasts with enough force to shatter stone

  • Use their massive jaws to deliver killing bites to other dragons

They excel at adapting their approach mid-combat, switching between offensive pressure and defensive positioning as circumstances require. A Water dragon never commits to a single strategy—they flow between tactics as needed, making them nearly impossible to predict or counter.

Known Water Dragons

CRYOS - Bonded to Gotts, Arcadia

Cryos is a pure Water dragon with ice blue scales and a build that speaks to his element's power—broader and heavier through the chest than most dragons, built to endure and overwhelm. Scars along his jaw mark him as an experienced fighter, a dragon who has seen combat and survived.

When he bonded with Gotts, Cryos made his choice decisively, then wrapped his tail around his rider's legs in an act of claiming. This possessive protectiveness defines their bond—Cryos has chosen Gotts as his, and he will tolerate no threat to that claim.

In Arcadia, where magic runs thin and dragon bonds operate through emotion and image rather than words, Cryos and Gotts have built their partnership on mutual trust and instinct. The bond may be different from Eldorian connections, but it is no less profound.

LAGAN - Bonded to Raiden, Arcadia

Lagan is unique among dragons in Terros—a Water/Energy hybrid whose mixed bloodline makes him twice the size of any other dragon, including pure Water dragons like Cryos. His scales are deep blue that glows with streaks of cobalt and violet, the energy magic in his blood made visible.

For years, Lagan was feared. His size, his bad temper, his refusal to bond with any rider made handlers avoid him, made other students laugh at the fool who would approach such a dangerous dragon. They thought he was washed up, too old and too angry to be worth the risk.

Then Raiden walked toward him, and Lagan felt something he had never experienced in all his long years: true energy magic resonating with his own hybrid nature. For the first time, someone could access the part of him that no Arcadian had ever touched.

Their bond is unprecedented—Lagan and Raiden can communicate mind-to-mind despite being in Arcadia, where such connections should be impossible. They keep this secret, but it speaks to the power of their connection and the unique magic Lagan carries in his blood.

Lagan's mixed bloodline gives him abilities beyond what pure Water dragons possess. His energy magic allows him to tap into power that shouldn't exist in Arcadia, making him one of the most dangerous dragons in the realm—if anyone knew what he truly was.

The Water Advantage

Water dragons have shaped naval warfare and coastal defense throughout Terros history. Their ability to control the ocean itself makes them invaluable for any force that operates near water, and their adaptability means they excel in diverse combat situations.

Post-Shattering, Water dragons have proven essential in both realms. In Eldoria, they guard waterways and coordinate with other elemental dragons. In Arcadia, where magic is scarce, their natural adaptability has allowed them to thrive, adjusting their tactics to compensate for weakened magical connections.

They are the dragons you want when circumstances change, when plans fall apart, when flexibility matters more than raw power. Because Water dragons don't break under pressure—they flow around it, adapt to it, and drown anyone who stands in their way.
